Description
This awesome library was found in Lemmy's build.
It took Phillipzu months (more than three, I believe) to get this build to where it appears in this image. He's done a stellar job, and I applaud him for it. Good work Lemmy!

I contacted MinecraftArchitect90 to see if he could write me a historical summery of this build. Read below for the history of this build,
Intended to be the tallest building in the world, & the greatest monument to Soviet Communism, the Palace of The Soviets was a planned skyscraper that would dwarf all other buildings around it, serving as the administrative heart of the Soviet Union. Should it have been built, it would have been almost 25% taller than the Empire State Building in New York but with a more audacious design.
In 1931, Soviet Premier Iosef Stalin announced a competition for a new congress hall that would serve as a new center of government & as a victory monument to the USSR's socialist ideals. Out of 160 potential candidates to the prestigious undertaking, a design by Russian-born architect Boris Iofan was chosen. This was to be a six-terraced, neo-classical inspired tower with an 80-foot statue of Vladimir Lenin with his right hand outstretched as the crowning centerpiece. Adorning the structure were many decorative statues of various communist figures. of It would have consisted of a massive reception hall leading to a main auditory hall, restaurants, & possibly a new mausoleum for the body of Vladimir Lenin to rest in.
Before construction commenced, on the site where the new tower would stand, the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, standing since 1817, was completely demolished & the site was cleared in 1935. However construction of the new tower did not commence until 1939. With the new foundations set, workers began laying the steel frames that would provide support to the structure.
The tower's fate would be sealed two years later when Germany launched Operation Barbarossa in June 1941, the invasion of the Soviet Union, intent on conquest. This event caught the Soviets off-guard & within four months were pushed back to the outskirts of Moscow. The steel frames used to support the lower levels of the palace were reused as barriers & fortifications, & construction stopped. Eventually, the USSR would triumph in their struggle, but work on the palace never resumed. The foundations dug for the tower eventually found use as an open-air swimming pool, which became the largest of it's kind in the world.
The Palace of The Soviets' legacy is undeniable: a great trophy to a political ideology only to suffer a cruel twist of fate. It's interest extended far beyond the Soviet Union even in the 1930's & continues to fascinate us to this day.
This building has an interesting history. Thank you MinecraftArchitect90 for your help!
